Laden Ince – a singer to watch

Laden Ince

Laden Ince is one of what is now becoming a long line of talented Turkish C ypriots who are making a name for themselves in the world at large. Laden is a young soprano -singing colatura as well as dramatic roles – who is making a name for herself in Germany, and following her appearance at the recent Turksoy opera night at Bellapais and GAU, she flew off to Germany where on the 18th October she took part in a concert with the chamber orchestra ‘Capriccio Fridericiana’ 25th anniversary in the Auferstehungs Church of Kalrsruhe’

Music lovers in North Cyprus may well remember the concert at Bellapais Abbey on the 3rd March where Laden was the soloist and in which she sang Johann Sebastian Bach’s Jauchzet Gott in Allen Landen’ cantata No.51.

This piece of music was, for listeners at the abbey, the highlight of the concert as her voice soared with angelic clarity to the roof of the abbey, and as a result of this was invited to sing at this 25th anniversary of the orchestra. Laden’s response was one of ‘enthusiasm and gratefulness”.Laden Ince

Alongside Laden Ince, as soloist soprano, was  Wolfgang Heitz as soloist trumpeter in the Kantata, a piece which reveals his musicianship and virtuosity. This piece is challenging for both soloists as it requires highest levels of technical mastery and musical understanding of phrasing, and both Laden and Heitz together with the strings of the orchestra showed their understanding of this work and performed it to perfection, which was received by tumoltous applause from the very appreciative audience.

The programme was varied and included works such as the Concerto Armonico no.2 in G Major by Graf Unico von Wassenaer, a composer recognised in the 20th Century, and the  Capriccio Op.81 by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy , with the last item being the Serenade C-Major Op.48 by Peter Tchaikowsky, rendered  with great emotion from the orchestra.

An encore was demanded by the audience, and it is reported that “The audience was absolutely amazed by the encore piece Solveigs Song by Edvard Grieg.” resulting in a standing ovation for the artistes and orchestra.

As yet, Laden has no immediate plans for concerts back in her homeland as she is very heavily committed with work in Germany and Europe.
