|The Kibris President, Derviş Eroğlu, has stated that the Greek Cypriot President, Nicos Anastasiades, has insisted that the accords reached between Mehmet Ali Talat and Demetrius Christophias, (the previous presidents of both North and South Cyprus) are declared null and void! As such the current talks will have to start yet again - from scratch!
When ”hard-line nationalistic” President Eroğlu took over from “moderate” President Talat, he also wanted to start the talks again from scratch.

Not long after the British took over the island’s administration in 1878, but paying an Annual tribute to the Ottoman Empire, there was a suggestion of building a railway to support the military needs of the first Administrator, Lieutenant General Sir Garnet Wolseley
A comprehensive plan with costings for a 3' 3" railway system was undertaken by Sir George Elliot, paid for out of his own pocket, to connect Famagusta harbour with Larnaca and Nicosia with branches to Kythrea and Karavostasi.
