SPORT Overview

Two Titans of Golf clashed last Sunday

Brian Flanigan is back in action as spokesperson for the CMC Golf Club , way out west beyond Guzelyhurt and nestling on the edge of the beautiful blue briny sea.  He has been sampling Maori hospitality and warmer weather Down Under for a celebration in the family.

CMC  missed him, and we readers of KibKom Times missed him and his golfing tales.

Now he is back, not quite in the saddle, but more in the caddy and has reported on the match which took place at Yesilyurt Sunday last.

It was a special morning as the CMC hosted the first leg of the annual two-leg match play between the CMC Golf Club and the International Golf Club of Nicosia (IGCN).  As Brian reports "These games are played with great spirit, and Sunday was no exception."

He goes on to say that "The final score of  six and a half points to three and a half in favour of CMC may be enough to take to Nicosia and retain the Pendaya plate." Very encouraging news for this small but beautiful golf course/club.

Following the morning's golf, the CMC provided a chicken buffet for all, after which the Vice Captains of both clubs thanked the CMC for their hard work in the organisation.
Both clubs are now looking forward to the return leg which will be on 9th of March at IGCN Nicosia.

Ladies Darts Winter League

The season is speeding on and the ladies enjoyed their fourteen week and still the Baxters are on top way ahead of second place The Feathers. However, Feathers are still one match behind so they could catch up. Baxters however, seem to remain unbeatable, while at the other end of the scale the Stumble Bees don't seem to be able to buzz up from the bottom position.
Sue of Dartvaders has joined the High checkouts table and has taken third place on her 102 score.  And Pauline of Lapida had a 140 score  and has joined the '140 ' Club for High Scores.

Below is an up to date table of results, but before that is a list of the matches to be playued next week on the 25th February.  Will these matches result in any changes in the league table?  Results of that next week!

Calling football fanatics over 35 years old

Do you love a game of football? Feel you are too old at 35 plus? Zeytinlik Veterans Team is calling you. You are not too old to join them for a once a week game.

Thursday evenings for just one hour  - nothing too strenuous, but definitely an hour of fitness, fun and friendly football. The evenings which take place at the Zeytinlik Astroturf pitch (behind the Ship Hotel at Karaoglanoglu)  are from 8.00p.m. to 9.00p.m. and all the players need is an enthusiasm for the game and a willingness to be part of the team.

Interested? Why not give Askin a ring on 0533 831 9476 and/or go along to give it a try.

They are also forming an under 15 league, so Zeytinlik could be serious competition to other local teams.

Got a story?
