|Following the appalling accident of a week ago when three young girls were killed in a three car pile-up on the Lefkosa/Guzelyurt road, the public have been outraged at the increasing death and accident toll on the roads.
Hızını Azalt - Ömrünü Uzat! Reduce Speed- Prolong Life!
Can Gazi in his programme on BRT had a phone in, and write in on Facebook, on Friday of last week, and has received many, many suggestions concerning law changes which could ensure that the roads are safer, which will be compiled into a report to help show the Government the thinking of its people.
Another face of the people took place on Wednesday in Lefkosia was a protest march organised by 'Living Without Traffic Accidents Association". The walk took place from Kugulu Park to the Parliament building saying 'Enough is Enough' (Yeter!) and was supported by many school children who will be the drivers and adults of tomorrow.
On Thursday afternoon the 30th January, in the Dereboyu shopping area of Lekosia, members of the Youth Centre are distributing leaflets on road safety and wearing black ribbons in memory of those who lost their lives in the tragic accident.
It was felt that if enough people showed their support, then as was said 'We can make a difference.'
